WHAT TO EXPECT
MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
REAL PEOPLE
Relax and be yourself. You're important to us because you're important to God, so Southpoint was designed to make church a refreshingly positive experience since beginning in 1992. We think you'll feel comfortable whether you have a church background or not, so don't worry about having to figure out rituals or "acting religious."
And it doesn't matter if you're single, married, or divorced. Everyone needs friends who will care for you through life's setbacks as well as good times. We don't pretend to be perfect, but we want to be a caring spiritual family like that.
REAL CASUAL
It's a casual atmosphere, so it doesn't matter if you wear jeans or a suit. Our multi-purpose auditorium offers a contemporary style with comfortable seating and video projection.
Leave your checkbook home...there's no "cover charge." As our guest, don't feel obligated to give in any way. The offering is for those who want to further Southpoint's ministries. All gifts are confidential and strictly accounted for.
CONNECT WITH GOD
Don't worry -- we're not going to be doing weird stuff that only the "initiated" are clued in to.
GOOD TEACHING
The messages offer hope and help for life today. The Bible offers timeless solutions to today's problems, wise guidance for decisions, and joyful purpose beyond the daily grind. You'll discover these principles in interesting and practical messages that are meant to be enjoyed, not endured. In fact, click on the Hear a Message page for an example.
GOOD MUSIC
Worship involves meaningful prayer, celebration and reverence. We sing some great songs together (the words are on the screen so everyone can join in if they'd like). It's not good just because our band plays a blend of new and classic songs in today's style, but because they are songs that make you feel good. Whenever you sing about God's goodness, love and power, it's good for your soul.
As followers of Christ, we have a brief time each week of sharing in a time of "communion" (the Lord's Supper), which is eating a small piece of flat bread and a small cup of grape juice -- these remind us of the Last Supper of Jesus. If you're not yet a Christ follower, then it's just a quiet time that you can use to think or pray (or read the newsletter...).
Sometimes different forms of communication are used to get God's truth across, like drama and personal stories. Services are interpreted for the hearing impaired. Visit Worship Arts and Music Ministry for more information about Southpoint's music, drama, and media ministries.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
Your kids have their own age-graded rooms where they can have a great time making new friends and learning things that will help them know God, and strengthen those values that will help them grow up to be better people. If you have small children you'd like to keep with you in the service, we have reserved seating in the rear of the auditorium -- close to the doors so that if they become disruptive, you're able to take them to the lobby. We also have a "Comfort Room" in the back of the auditorium, with a large window which allows you to continue seeing and hearing the service.
The Sr. High teens get together for their meetings on Sunday night, and throughout the week. Jr. High teens meet on Wednesday evenings. Honestly, there's nothing better for students today than to get connected to a positive group of friends like in church.
