We're glad you have given us the opportunity to serve you and your child. Our Children's Ministry is a vital part of Southpoint Church that exists to help lay a spiritual foundation which, in God's timing, will lead your child into a relationship with Himself. We want to meet the spiritual needs of your children.
In our Nursery, newborns and toddlers are gently cared for by loving adults and young people in a clean, quality environment, while parents attend worship.
After graduating from the nursery, children enter our Preschool, where biblical truths are communicated through age-appropriate instruction in an atmosphere of love and acceptance.
Each group has a fun-filled program designed especially for the ages of the children participating. Our leaders desire to build a meaningful relationship with your child. We are committed to giving your child the most positive classroom experience possible, communicating God's love at the child's level with creative Bible lessons.
We encourage you to observe your child's class from time to time. If you would like to be involved in Children's Ministry on a regular basis, please contact Lisa Calamia at the church office (734) 675-7575.

To lead children to know, love and follow Jesus
Biblical Foundations
Mark 10:14-15, Matthew 18:5, Proverbs 22:6
- To lead children, through age-appropriate instruction, to an understanding of their need for a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our desire that all children will eventually express faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Leader.
- To build children in Bible knowledge and application for developing a growing relationship with God, and making wise, moral choices.
- To support and supplement parents in fulfilling their responsibilities to provide godly nurture and training for their child as primary spiritual teacher-role models.
Vacation Bible School
- a week-long summer program of creative Bible teaching and activities for preschool and elementary-age kids.
Special Events
- throughout the year kids can enjoy exciting events as opportunities to build friendships with Southpoint kids, and bring unchurched friends: Halloween Alternative Event, Christmas programs, Family Fun Nights.
Wolverine Christian Service Camp
- each summer, we support the mission of Wolverine, located in Lapeer County, to draw children closer to God through a camping experience. Southpoint offers scholarships.

In order to maintain a high standard of health, we ask your cooperation to assist in the following preventative measures. It is helpful if your child remains at home when ill, or with an adult guardian. Children will not be allowed in class if they exhibit any of the following symptoms or communicable disease:
- Fever (in the last 24 hours)
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Chicken Pox (not fully scabbed over)
- Impetigo - runny clusters of blisters
- Roseola
- Any rash illness on the body
- Common Cold - which may or may not be at the communicable stage. Any child with a cough or colored nasal discharge will be refused entry.
- Flu
- Meningitis
- Lice or Scabies
- Pinkeye
Voluntary disclosure of HIV, AIDS, or Hepatitis B would be appreciated so we can protect your child, other children and teachers with correct health measures. Such disclosures will be held in strict confidence. Parents aware of any of the above should voluntarily exclude such child because:
- Symptoms may be communicable. This can cause hardship in other households, if symptoms are carried home.
- Symptoms cause the child to need special attention. With a group situation, equal attention must be given to all children, and such symptoms may require extra work from staff.
- Symptoms may require medication, which by law we cannot administer.
Because we want your children to be safe, we have developed a security number system for all children, birth through 5th grade. It is required that parents or guardians register them and receive a tag.
All newcomers must register their children at the Kids Registration center.
Our leaders will not release a child to anyone that does not have the correct tag. Children will not be released from their classroom until a parent or family member over age thirteen is present.
All volunteer staff must submit to the Children's Workers Guidelines, which includes references, criminal records check, and other safeguards.
